The Salt City Melts A Ice:
A Compilation to Support the Syracuse Immigrant and Refugee Defense Network
We are seeking contributions from local Central New York musicians of all genres for a compilation to raise money for the Syracuse Immigrant and Refugee Defense Network. SIRDN is a part of The Workers’ Center of Central New York, a grassroots organization focused on workplace and economic justice.
We are interested in all genres from folk to hip hop to rock to classical to noise and everything in between. This compilation is meant to highlight not only the diversity of our population, but the diversity of artists here in Central New York.
Per the city government’s website, “Syracuse has been and always will be a welcoming city and proud refugee and immigrant resettlement community”. These communities are the foundation of Syracuse’s rich history from it’s earliest days to the strength of our present day diversity. From the historic Irish roots in Tipp Hill to the more than 10,000 refugees who have resettled here in the last decade, the diversity is what makes Syracuse a great place to live.
As has been made clear in Minneapolis, and throughout the country, our neighbors are under threat.
This compilation is meant to be a small step towards supporting these communities. All funds raised through this compilation will be donated to the Syracuse Immigrant and Refugee Defense Network.
